Most memorable moment at IHN
My greatest memories at IHN involve being an evening student. We were the first evening students to be enrolled at IHN Vancouver Campus, and most of us were in our thirties or older and worked during the day. Many were parents, too, so you can imagine this made our program challenging for many, and I recall countless experiences where we would pep each other up to stay alert and engaged twice a week until 9:30 pm. Being part of such a spectacularly driven group of mature students is by far the greatest memory I take away from my experience at IHN.
Favourite Class at IHN
Professional Practice and Professional Skills Development stand out strongest for me, perhaps because they were the last two classes we took in the program. In those classes, I was able to do the important work of planning out the steps to transition from student to professional and find a niche in the natural health community.
Currently doing in the field of Holistic Nutrition
I am in the business of helping natural health practitioners promote their practices with my new business: FoodHead (www.foodhead.ca). FoodHead creates brandable nutrition fact sheets that promote practitioners and empower their patients. The sheets cover nutrition, supplement and lifestyle recommendations for a variety of common health concerns.
I also plan on adding a Small Business Start-up Package, which will be an affordable package of professional collateral (business card, brochure, intake form, seven-day food journal) to help burgeoning nutritionists put their best faces forward. I hope to offer add-ons such as headshots, promotional videos and website design.
This venture pairs my background as a creative director nicely with my nutrition knowledge, and I’m thrilled to say the idea for this business was born directly out of my experience at IHN.
