Most Memorable Moment
My most memorable moment would have to be when I came in for my interview with Sanchia and Elizabeth. I knew immediately that this was the school for me. Everyone was welcoming and professional and it gave me the confidence to enroll almost immediately. I’m sure the smell of soup had something to do with it too!
My favourite class had to be the cooking class with Patricia Meyer-Watt. It was a nice change from the classroom and a chance to put our knowledge into practice. We made sprouted grain buns, kichadi and gorgeous salads. We learned about kefir, sourdough and kombucha. It was early spring and a beautiful day, we ate outside in the sun and I remember being very inspired to go home and try all sorts of new recipes.
Currently Doing in the Field of Holistic Nutrition
I’m currently teaching Nutrition and the Environment at IHN in North York and Mississauga. I run a small tour company called Field Trip, we run day trips to local farms to connect city folk to their food source and farmers to their consumers. Field Trips are now part of the curriculum for all IHN students. I work part-time as an on-site nutritionist at The Big Carrot Natural Health Food Market, teach cooking classes both at the Big Carrot and privately and I see clients through the Lifewise Health and Wellness Clinic in North Toronto.
