Roland is a Certified Nutritional Practitioner and Honors Graduate of IHN who has been working in the health and wellness industry for 13 years. He runs his own business combining his two loves; nutrition and exercise mechanics where he works with his clients to assist them in achieving optimal health and wellness from a nutritional and physical perspective. His two specialties lie in the worlds of preventive Healthcare and sports nutrition where he helps clients achieve optimal health through preventive nutrition principles and his high level athletic clients establish foundational practices giving them the competitive edge in training and performance. He regularly runs workshops for the families of youth athletes to educate them on how to fuel for their activities and recover properly. Roland brings a unique style of passion, critical thinking, and detail oriented perspectives to his craft and loves taking complex topics and breaking them down to their fundamental pieces. Roland teaches Preventative Healthcare and Sports Nutrition at the Toronto Campus of The Institute of Holistic Nutrition.
PHC005 Preventive Health Care
Nutrition is positioned as a significant factor in the prevention of many disease states. Learn how proper nutrition can protect against, reverse and/or retard many ailments including: osteoporosis, diabetes, atherosclerosis and high blood pressure, arthritis, cancer, anemia, kidney disease and colon cancer. Current research developments on phytochemicals, antioxidants and nutraceuticals will be explored.
FSN013 Fitness and Sports Nutrition
The main focus of this course is the role of nutrition in fitness and sports. Methods are focused on where nutrition can help maximize muscle strength, endurance, and flexibility; through building muscle and reducing fat. Techniques for guiding athletes in proper nutrition in training, and effective methods to prevent dehydration and sports related injuries due to insufficient nutrient levels. Real case studies are examined, exploring leading methods & techniques in optimizing sports performance with proper nutrition.
