Autoimmunity Natural Treatment and Prevention

Presenter: Dr. Jaclyn Smith BSc., ND

Maintaining a healthy immune system is the foundation of preventive medicine. An unhealthy immune system can lead to multiple chronic diseases or conditions. One of the most prevalent is autoimmune. All autoimmune conditions have one commonality:  A leaky gut.

A leaky gut becomes permeable and allows particles of foods and proteins to escape the lining into the bloodstream.  When undigested food and proteins enter the bloodstream, in a place where they are not supposed to be, the immune system goes on alert. Autoimmune Diseases arise from an atypical immune response to a bodily tissue or part. The result has the body attacking itself from the inside out. Autoimmune is the presence of self-reactive immune response with (i.e. auto-antibodies, self-reactive T-cells) with or without damage or pathology. These responses may be restricted to certain organs or involve a tissue in different places. Join Dr. Jaclyn Smith ND for an informative lecture on cutting edge research involving Autoimmune Disease.

Lecture highlights include:

  • An in-depth analysis on the development of autoimmune conditions
  • Therapeutic recommendations to support autoimmune conditions
  • The pathogenesis of disease progression
  • Examinations of factors that relate to autoimmune conditions: Genetics, Infections, Toxic Chemicals, and Dietary

Choices

• Case Studies and Protocols for the following Autoimmune Conditions: Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, Psoriasis, Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, and Celiac Disease.

About the Presenter

Dr. Smith’s thirst for knowledge has paved the way to becoming a Naturopathic Doctor. Growing up in a family afflicted with autoimmune diseases (and later developing her own autoimmune conditions), she opted to refute the belief that there was no cure, and began to question the underlying causes. Through her search for treatments, she became aware of Naturopathic Medicine, a science rooted in the principle, “Tolle Causam”, meaning “Treat the Cause”. The rest is history. With the successful application of Naturopathic Medicine, her family saw a reduction in medications and a reversal of symptoms—Dr. Smith saw a fulfilling and inspiring career. Dr. Smith completed a Bachelor of Science from The University of Western Ontario, followed by a Diploma of Naturopathic Medicine from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. Throughout her career, she has pursued extensive training in the treatment of autoimmune diseases. To further support the needs of her patients, Dr. Smith has also become a Certified Laser Therapist. Her credentials have fortified a practice that focuses on providing patients with an education on the many benefits of preventative health, and how to achieve a life free of pain and worry. With a dedication to educating the public on the many benefits of Naturopathic Medicine in the treatment of autoimmune disease, Dr. Smith has published several articles, been a guest expert for local media outlets, and continues to host regular community lectures.
