Michelle Lauer CNP
Michelle Lauer is a Certified Nutritional Practitioner and Graphic Designer who is passionate about connecting people to nutrition and wellness through design. Her love for holistic approaches led her to complete the program at the Institute of Holistic Nutrition Ottawa Campus, where she graduated with first class honours in 2016. Prior to completing the program at IHN, she received her Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design from Algonquin College. As a graphic designer, Michelle has had the opportunity to work with a variety of small businesses both inside and outside of the wellness industry. She has gained valuable experience in marketing, branding and design through a number of freelance contracts and through her own business, The Nutritious Nerd, which promotes wellness through design. She currently works in the Marketing Department at Terra20, where she continues to gain significant experience supporting a marketing team in an exciting Ottawa-based retail start-up that specializes in healthy and sustainable living. From designing promotional material and marketing strategy development to e-mail marketing and nutrition blogging, she spends her days combining her knowledge in holistic nutrition with her keen eye for design. Michelle couldn’t be more excited to share her diverse professional and educational background with the students at IHN. Michelle teaches Professional Practice at The Institute of Holistic Nutrition’s Ottawa Campus, where she provides students with the tools to thrive in the dynamic field of health and wellness.
PP 001 Professional Practice
This course is designed to provide the tools and skills necessary to succeed in professional practice. Practicing in health service, community, business and educational settings will be thoroughly covered. Topics include legal framework, marketing techniques, defining goals, consulting skills, time management, client relationships, building rapport, professionalism and a recap on effective communication skills.
