1. What brought you to study Holistic Nutrition at IHN?

Like many other students, I had been dealing with health issue for years. In 2017, I had been in a car accident that kick-started my digestive issues and kept getting worse as time went on. In 2021, I was diagnosed with Graves’ disease and was going through an extremely stressful period in my life that was exacerbating all my digestive issues and Graves’ symptoms. I was going from doctor to doctor trying to get help but found that nothing was working.

That’s when I really started to take my health into my own hands and I began seeing a naturopath and fueling my body with nutritious foods. I felt so much better and by doing this, I realized just how important the foods we eat are for our overall health. I found myself researching nutrition and holistic health in my free time, and in 2022, I enrolled to study nutrition at IHN.

2. What professions have you worked in prior to enrolling at IHN?

All of my previous jobs have not been related to nutrition; most have just been random student or summer jobs that I’ve worked while being in school most of my life. Right now, I serve at a restaurant!

3. What degrees or academic achievements did you have prior to IHN?

I graduated from the University of Guelph in 2021 with an Honours in Psychology and a minor in Family and Child Studies.

4. What are your goals/aspirations as a CNP?

My goals as a CNP are to run my own successful 1:1 online practice to help others restore their gut health. I am also passionate about working with women to address hormonal imbalances and other health challenges that women face. I hope to empower clients to take control of their health and feel more in tune with their bodies.

5. What has been your personal best achievement?

I would have to say that graduating from IHN will be my biggest achievement. Before I knew that I wanted to pursue nutrition, I felt lost and like I hadn’t found my purpose yet even after getting my undergraduate degree. Right now, I feel much more hopeful about my future and grateful for making the decision to become a holistic nutritionist.

6. What is something you overcame in your life, that you didn’t think you could?

Most of 2021, it was one of the most stressful and depressing years of my life. My health issues were terrible, and I was also going through other problems with people in my life that made me very emotional. At the time, I didn’t think I would ever feel fine again, but I’m so glad that I’ve moved past that period in my life.

7. What is something about you that would surprise people?

I love all kinds of music, but my favourite genres are rock/metal. I don’t think you would be able to tell that by looking at me and my lifestyle lol!

8. Is there anything you would like to share about your experience at IHN so far?

My favourite course that I’ve taken would have to be Symptomatology 1 with Jennifer Papaconstantinou. Working on the case studies really brought so much of the learning I’ve done at IHN together and helped me put that knowledge into practice with client protocols. Jennifer was also an amazing teacher!
