We will also look at ghrelin which in many ways is opposite to leptin. In fact, ghrelin is known as the “hunger hormone”. In addition, we will look at other hormones that are involved in appetite and energy balance including the digestive hormone cholecystokinin (CCK). On Tuesday March 10 2020, IHN held a 1 hour webinar with Dr. Rahul Kushwah as he discussed how genetics can be utilized to offer personalized approaches to improve one’s health and potentially reduce the risk of developing chronic metabolic disorders. Our genetic makeup not only impacts our risk for developing diseases, but also our risk for nutritional deficiencies, food intolerances, how we respond to physical activities, detoxification pathways, weight loss, hormonal metabolism, and a host of other factors. As such, dietary and lifestyle changes need to be catered based on individual DNA for maximum efficacy. Holistic nutritionists are in an ideal position to offer DNA based personalized nutritional plans to their clients to help them achieve their health goals. Moreover, this allows holistic nutritionists to stay ahead of the competition and offer personalized healthcare.
