1. What brought you to study Holistic Nutrition at IHN?

Ever since I can remember, leading a healthy lifestyle has been of the upmost importance to me. I grew up as an athlete, and in order to perform my best, staying physically and mentally healthy and strong was integral, and this meant eating healthy, and taking care of my body physically and mentally. Living a healthy lifestyle and how that incorporates eating healthy food, exercising, and practicing mindfulness, has always been an important and habitual part of me and this has continued to be true for me through each stage of life – while I was in university, entering the workforce, and remains today.

In my spare time, I have always found myself researching and reading about new health foods and products in the market; what their nutritional benefits are, as well as research behind them that support their importance as a health food product. I’ve also always had a passion for cooking and baking, finding new recipes, and how to alter existing recipes with different ingredients to make them healthier; this brings me so much joy! I’ve always had a curiosity into what I can do naturally to achieve optimal health in order to look and feel my best, and I’ve always looked for these answers in the holistic nutrition space and industry.

My ‘WHY’ for enrolling at IHN was further catapulted by my own struggles with gut health. My gut dysbiosis, chronic constipation and bloating  got to a point where I was exhausted and frustrated, not only from these symptoms, but from the overwhelming amount of contradicting information I was finding on the internet and social media. I wanted to know what would heal my gut. I also wanted to take it one step further and understand WHY it would work n healing my gut. Once discovering IHN, it didn’t take me long to enrol in order to answer both of these questions for myself to heal my own gut, inflammation and further issues like borderline hypothyroid and mineral deficiencies on my journey to optimal health.

It also became my passion to help others heal their body’s from these issues, because I know from first hand experience, how feeling backed up, lethargic, and bloated on a daily basis can make you feel like a stranger in your own body, have zero energy and struggle to find the joy in simple everyday moments. I knew the knowledge I would gain from my studies at IHN would be integral to not only helping myself, but help friends, family, and future clients on their healing journeys.

2. What professions have you worked in prior to enrolling at IHN?

Previous to IHN, I have worked mostly in media and advertising. Mostly selling content, advertising and brand partnerships. Not very similar to holistic nutrition at all!

3. What degrees or academic achievements did you have prior to IHN?

I have a Bachelors degree in Radio & Television Arts as well as a minor in English from Ryerson university in Toronto. I also have a certification in Product Marketing and Google Ads.

4. What are your goals/aspirations as a CNP?

I’ve always seen myself working in a clinical practice helping clients heal their body, specifically their gut health. I believe gut health is the gateway to whole body health, and its importance is insurmountable in healing. I see myself working in the gut health niche, metabolism and nervous system regulation. I also find the psychology behind health and disease very interesting as there is a strong connection between our cells and our health.

My goals and aspirations are to work 1-on-1 with clients in my own practice, have programs I run in group settings that revolve around healing healing your gut and nervous system and whole body health. I would also love to sell physical products the reflect the holistic way of healing and health.

5. What has been your personal best achievement?

I would say the achievement I am most proud of right now is enrolling at IHN and taking the leap to begin a new career. Juggling a full time job, while studying, and balancing a social life is a lot. However, my dedication to this program is what keeps me going. I am genuinely excited for every lecture and new course as I am so passionate about what we learn in this course.

6. What is something you overcame in your life, that you didn’t think you could?

When my gut was at its worse, I thought it was broken. With chronic constipation, I thought my gut was beyond repair. But through learning the science behind gut health, healing foods and remedies, I know that is not the case. Being patient with myself on my healing journey has made such a difference, and putting what I’ve learned into practice has improved my gut and helped me learn and work with my body to heal.

7. What is something about you that would surprise people?

I have put myself out there and have started sharing gut health tips and my IHN learnings on Instagram for my account called @attunewithali. I hope this account can help people find answers to their own gut health symptoms and questions, how to heal their guts naturally, and achieve their whole body health goals. It’s nerve wracking for sure putting myself out there like this, but I am truly passionate about helping people feel their best and fall in love with their bodies again and show ourselves the self love we deserve.

8. Is there anything you would like to share about your experience at IHN so far?

I have loved all of the classes at IHN, I get so excited when I get the email that tells my the next course I am enrolled in! I would say my favourite class so far has been symptomatology part 1, because it dives into the protocols we would use with clients which aligns perfectly with my future goals. It also helped me with knowing ways to heal my own gut.  Its real, science backed knowledge to truly healwhich is what I’ve been looking for.
