1. What brought you to study Holistic Nutrition at IHN?

I retired in 2022 and wanted to explore, not necessarily career options, but something that inspired me. I had a significant health issue in 2023. I was very grateful to the medical staff who saved my life. They were amazing! During my recovery, I realized there is so much more to keeping healthy, especially in light of serious illness. So I did my research and landed, thankfully, at IHN, which has been an eye opener. I feel better than ever before. Medicine saved my life, then IHN kept me healthy and happier than I have ever been.

2. What professions have you worked in prior to enrolling at IHN?

I started my career in insurance. I loved my career. My next and most rewarding stage was raising my 2 kids. who are now healthy, happy, independent individuals. This was my goal for them. At 50 I joined a friend who had a catering business and together we built the catering business and opened a restaurant. I was working very long days and decided to retire at the age of 57.

3. What degrees or academic achievements did you have prior to IHN?

I have a degree in Business Administration from University of Ottawa.

4. What are your goals and aspirations as a CNP?

As I near the end of my time at IHN and given all I have learned, my goal is to work generally with women 50+. I have a personal perspective and feel this is an area where I can thrive. My focus will be restoring balance in every aspect of life and help others achieve the gift of optimal health as I have. I’d like to also offer services in liver health.

5. What has been your personal best achievement?

My personal best achievement, other than having my brain get through the science based courses like Body Metabolism and Biochemistry, has been finding my own personal balance. I’ve learned how to hone in on every aspect of Holistic Health. I take time for me, I avoid or have the tools to deal with stressful situations. I feel deeply grateful and appreciative of life!

6. What is something you overcame in your life, that you didn’t think you could?

My divorce in my forties and selling of our family home was indeed quite devastating. I made it through with the support of family and friends. It really has been my time at IHN that has brought me to a place where I feel safe, secure and  balanced.

7. What is something about you that would surprise people?

I love yoga, walks with my pup, spending time with friends, cooking and food prep, sharing a good meal with good people, watching Ottawa Rapid FC, spending time with my family at the farm, crafting with my gals. My kids are my world. Something that may surprise people is that I enjoy snowmobiling so much! I take trips with my brothers and absolutely cherish the time spent on the trails and in the mountains. Real exhale moments.

8. Is there anything you would like to share about your experience at IHN so far?

Psyscology of Disease was a real aha course for me. From class #1 where we were encouraged to pour a cup of tea and sit back and enjoy the time. I felt as though I found my place, my peace. I have made many changes in my life based on what I learned and it has brought me to a balanced state.
