ALEX GELLMAN HOM, PhD, CNP, ROHP
Alex Gellman is an October 2013 Mississauga campus graduate practicing in Toronto, ON. Alex’s Toronto practice, Guru & Associates Wellness Inc. has extended to a successful satellite office in Victoria, BC. Alex did her IHN Co-op with MD, Dr. Leora Marcovitz. She was given twenty-five patients to coach using only therapeutic food protocols for ten weeks. The success of these protocols now has Alex working with Dr. Marcovitz. In 2014 Alex was a keynote speaker for the Fibromyalgia Association. An obvious need emerged after meeting profoundly sick women, without hope. She began to treat twenty clients, free, for six months. She put them on a clean diet and used homeopathic to clear toxins. She initiated her own IHN Co-op, with three exceptional graduating students, for six months, in a pilot research study dedicated to Fibromyalgia. Alex has received collaboration from the research department at CCNM and Pascoe Canada for her next fibromyalgia research project planned for 2017. She has two upcoming transformational retreats in Victoria in 2017. Alex was a mentor with the College of Homeopaths of Ontario to coach new applicants in the rigorous application process. JOCELYN JEWELL CNP
Jocelyn Jewell is an October 2001 Toronto campus graduate practicing in Whitby, ON. Jocelynn is the owner of Durham Regions largest health food store, TNS Health Food, and the newly opened organic restaurant, Lil Organic Kitchen. While at IHN completing her co-op with an Ajax health food store, she gained her passion for helping others and offering healthier food options. In 2002 she opened her own small health food store in Whitby and from there she carried her dreams to where she is today! Karen Hong is an October 2016 Mississauga campus graduate practicing in Toronto, ON. Karen is the founder of The Healthy Canasian, a lifestyle brand pertaining to her self-identity as an Asian Canadian female. She looks to educate and inspire women to have a healthy relationship with food and exercise in a “balanced bodies are beautiful” and “inner beauty is humility and strength” approach. She has created a twelve-week online nutritional and coaching program called “No More YOYO” (launching in January) where she shares her knowledge and personal experiences as a former competitive golf and NCAA athlete and overcoming “perfectionist.” Karen has also built a successful personal training and group fitness called Fitness With Karen. SHAWNDA CHAMBERS CNP
Shawnda Chambers is an October 2016 Mississauga campus graduate practicing in Mono, ON. Shawnda has her own practice, Food for Thought, which looks to inspire women to re-examine and reclaim their bodies after trauma, by teaching mindfulness eating practices. She is also a mother (of both children and chickens!) and writer. Her article, Letters of Forgiveness, debuted on Mothering.com and stayed on their top 25 articles list for months afterwards. The ripple effects quickly spread, empowering families to initiate their own healing by exploring the theme of forgiveness. This article was the inspiration for her memoir and first book, Think Nothing of MeIn The Hills Magazine brilliantly describes the book; “Betrayal is at the heart of this brave memoir. RACHEL MOLENDA CNP
Rachel Molenda is an October 2016 Mississauga campus graduate practicing in Port Credit, ON. Rachel is a practitioner at The Root Natural Health Clinic in Port Credit, ON. After a short and stressful career in advertising, she decided to fully immerse herself in the health world, where she healed her own health issues and completed her studies at IHN. With each client at she works with, Rachel brings her simplistic, anti-diet, whole foods-based approach to help people find balance so they can thrive in their bodies as they once did. MELISSA BLACKBURN BORG CNP
Melissa Blackburn Borg is an October 2016 Toronto campus graduate practicing in the Durham Region and Peterborough area. After graduating Melissa launched her own practice Eat. Live. Thrive., where she works to rebalance her clients through nutrition, and get to the root of drug and alcohol addiction, mental health issues and auto-immune disorders (website launching soon!).  In September 2016 Melissa joined the nutrition team at the Canadian Health and Recovery Centre in Peterborough, as a full-time Clinical Nutritionist.  At CHRC Melissa’s focus is on educating her clients on Nutritional Therapy as an integral part of addiction recovery and mental health through one on one sessions and weekly interactive nutrition classes.   Melissa works to help clients to understand addiction as a symptom, and looks to balance their bodies, through customized supplementation so they are less likely to return to addiction.
