Reports to: Campus Manager

Location: Vancouver (one block west of the Cambie and Broadway SkyTrain station)

Hours: Approximately 20 hours per week

Primary Responsibilities (but not limited to): 


Collaborate with IHN’s Practicum/Co-op Team and support the growth and development of the Practicum/Co-op Department
Produce, from concept to completion, through interviews and exchanges to create, vet and approve new Practicum/Co-op Placements
Coordinate and maintain existing Practicum/Co-op partnerships and relationships
Source new Clinical Practice Practicum/Co-op opportunities, along with 10-15 other pillars of our profession in the Vancouver and surrounding geographical areas
Support graduating students’ through their required 140 hours of Practicum/Co-op Placement to be eligible to graduate
Correspond with alumni, students, IHN team members, industry stakeholders and a wide range of natural health professionals (authors, speakers, clinical practitioners, developers, etc.) via email, phone and in person.
Organize and facilitate Practicum/Co-op orientation sessions with Practicum/Co-op Team
Organize and meet with Practicum/Co-op students; host Practicum/Co-op one-on-one student meetings and graduation preparation meetings
Provide ongoing assistance to students and hosts throughout the Practicum/Co-op process
Provide specific ongoing assistance to students in their search for Practicum/Co-op and employment opportunities including resume writing, interviewing, and career planning
Coordinate Practicum/Co-op communications including updates/email correspondences/reminders etc.
Coordinate student Practicum/Co-op files and paperwork including collecting, reviewing, signing and updating forms and paperwork as needed
Reach out to new graduates and alumni for Practicum/Co-op opportunities to increase IHN graduate career exposure and support their new businesses/practices

Alumni Development & Social Media:

• Assist Marketing Team by preparing, for the IHN Weekly Digest, IHN This Week, IHN’s Facebook and Instagram, posts that include:
–CNP Recipes, CNP Media, Partner Articles, Student Stories, Faculty Features
Seek candidates and get content for features on IHN’s Alumni Profiles
Understand and support the development of IHN’s Continuing Education programming
Organize, assist and promote campus events; Open Houses, Orientations, Graduation Workshops, Graduations

Academic Advisor:

• Coordinate schedules, student registration and communications for IHN Vancouver’s Holistic Food Preparation course (HFP04), the Herbal Medicine (HM008) herb walks and the Nutrition & The Environment (NE009) field trips
Organize, assist and promote campus events; Open Houses, Orientations, Final Day Sessions, Graduations
Coordinate IHN Communications, manage email and disseminate information to appropriate team members and/or personally field questions and requests from prospects, students, faculty and staff
Manage course registration for full and part-time students, including course add/drop and program change requests
Prepare and distribute event communication including correspondence and notices to students, faculty, staff and community members
Meet with students regarding academic progress/concerns, follow up with appropriate document correspondence and student record update, maintain accurate records of student academic standings; report to Campus Manager for guidance

Secondary Responsibilities (but not limited to):

Assist with government reporting and compliance
Prepare correspondence, notices and reports using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook or other appropriate software
Assist Campus Manager and Administrative team with required administrative tasks
Data entry and organization of student files
Handle general office phone, email and in-person questions and concerns
Participate in team meetings and contribute to growth and development of IHN culture


Must be a graduate of IHN (CNP)
A demonstrated passion for holistic living and a value system aligned with integrity, equality, sustainability, honesty, dedication and respect
Experience in marketing, communications and business/event development
Experience in clinical practice or having worked in the field is an asset, so that insight into our profession is authentic and current
Able to speak the language of natural health industry partners, clinical practitioners and academics
Exceptionally strong communication skills
A love for writing and can craft work in expository, descriptive, persuasive or narrative styles in context with purpose
Excellent computer skills: Word, Outlook, Excel
An awareness, even rudimentary, of the legislative climate surrounding nutritionists as well as natural health product, food, environmental and agricultural policies in BC and throughout Canada
A good sense of adventure, humour and enthusiasm!
